The new Canadian Minister of Natural Resources has stated, economic growth must be balanced with the environment.
Paradis told reporters: "The key point in that is to balance the economy and the environment ... I expect that the industry will share its burden to reach that goal".
Satya will be speaking to the Economics Society of Northern Alberta (ESNA) when they host an upcoming luncheon at the Edmonton Petroleum Club on January 22nd, 2010.
The ESNA promotes public awareness and understanding of current economic problems, issues and achievements in Northern Alberta.

Ken Davis interviews Satya Das on Sunday, December 20th. CKUA Bookamrk will air at 12:30 p.m on 94.9 FM.
Â
Satya will be one of the authors at the Edmonton Journal Bookfair and Writer's Festival hosted by Edmonton Journal columnist Paula Simons on December 12th from 1 to 4 p.m.
"Drop down to our sunny Journal atrium, do your Christmas shopping, courtesy of Laurie’s Book Company, have your books signed by your favourite Journal authors, and enjoy a free afternoon of great readings and great conversations about writing."
Marliss Weber gets the reaction of Edmonton-Strathcona MP Linda Duncan and Satya on Canadian climate change policy in the lead up to the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference.
"According to Das, Harper is lacking motivation for a green revolution based on his politics and is out of step with the direction much of the rest of the world is heading. 'He’s still playing by the Bush-Cheney rulebook."
"Satya Das is no conspiracy theorist. He does not blame the government’s oil sands approach, or the province’s explosive economic growth and world’s second-lowest oil royalties, on an industrial-political establishment. That charge he leaves to radical environmental groups. Instead, he blames timidity among politicians."
Read Patrycja Romanowska's full interview with Satya here.
Satya speaks with Publisher and Editor of See Magazine, Jeff Holubitsky, on the reception of Green Oil by the Toronto Star and the need to recoup the investment from the Alberta oil sands to become a world leader in education and technology like Texas, whose universities have won more Nobel Peace Prizes than Oxford and Harvard.
